Robert S. Brewer


ROBERT BREWER has been Music Director of Houston Masterworks Chorus since October 1995. Prior to that, he was Associate Director and Accompanist from 1988 to 1994 and Interim Music Director from 1994 to 1995. He has also been Director of the HMC Chamber Choir since its formation in 1993. He holds the degree of Master of Music in Organ Performance from Indiana University. He has served as Artistic Director of the Concert Chorale of Houston and the St. Paul's Chamber Music Society and also as a Guest Conductor of the Houston Bach Choir.

Mr. Brewer has been organist/choirmaster of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Houston since 1980. The choir toured Germany in 1985 and England in 1986, 1989 and 1992. During its 1992 tour, the choir performed a one-week residency at Westminster Abbey, where Mr. Brewer performed organ recitals as a part of the Abbey's Sunday Afternoon Organ Recital Series. Mr. Brewer also prepared the choir for performances with the Houston Ballet of Ravel's Daphnis and Chloe and the Poulenc Gloria. In addition to his other activities, he is much in demand as a vocal coach, clinician, accompanist, chamber musician, and keyboard soloist.
