WHO WE ARE: The Gay Men's Chorus of Houston, the second oldest gay
men's chorus in the US, was organized in 1979 as the Montrose
Singers. Over the years, GMCH has performed in Denver, New Orleans,
and most recently Tampa, at the international GALA choral festival.
MISSION STATEMENT: We sing to achieve excellence in men's choral
music. We provide a nurturing environment for our members and offer a
source of pride, unity, and support to our diverse communities.
AUDITIONS: No auditions are required, and we welcome both singing
and
non-singing members throughout the year. In addition, we will help
untrained singers learn to read music.
REHEARSALS: Every Thursday night from September
through June, 7-10pm,
at Grace Lutheran Church, on the corner of Waugh and Missouri. Each
section also meets for one hour per week at a convenient time.
DUES: $10/month
UPCOMING EVENTS: Way out West in
December, I Write the Songs in March and It Happened in the
Theater! in June, 1999.
RECORDINGS: TO FRIENDS AND TO LIFE, GMCH's first recording, is
available on tape and cd by calling 713.521.SING and leaving your
name and phone number.
