The Houston Chamber Choir is Houston's only professional choral ensemble. Founded in 1995 by Music Director Robert Simpson it is comprised of twenty-four skilled singers and is dedicated to increasing the awareness and appreciation of choral music and choral musicians through performance, outreach and education. Its members are selected from the finest choral musicians in the region.

Over the past three seasons, the Houston Chamber Choir has presented world premieres by Houston composers Jefferson Todd Frazier, David Ashley White and Michael Horvit. It has performed seldom-heard works, including those by female composers Fanny Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann.

In February 1999, the Houston Chamber Choir's artistic excellence was recognized nationally. It received an invitation (extended to only 29 of 300 choirs auditioned) to perform at the national convention of the American Choral Directors Association in Chicago. The Choir's performances at Orchestra Hall and Medinah Temple were enthusiastically greeted by the nearly 6,000 choral directors from around the world. The choir has also performed at the national convention of Chorus America of which itis a member.
