Stephen Roddy

Stephen Roddy is the Founder and Director of the 250-voice Houston Children Chorus. He is a noted children's choir clinician and festival conductor. Prior starting the Chorus he served on the full-time music staff of the First Baptist Church Houston. He has also served on the part-time music staff of St. Luke's Methodist Church of Houston and the First Presbyterian Church of Houston, and Tallowood Baptist Church. Steven is currently the Director of Music at Grace Presbyterian Church. He is in demand as a massed choral festival conductor and has conducted festivals and music conferences all over the United States, Indonesia, and New Zealand.

Under Mr. Roddy's leadership the Houston Children's Chorus has performed with the Houston Symphony, the Houston Masterworks Chorus, the Rice University Choral and Orchestra, and the Texas A & M Chorus and Orchestra. They have toured Ne Zealand and Hong Kong, and have given two solo performances in Carnegie Hal The Chorus has performed for President and Mrs. George Bush on seven occasion including the 1992 Republican Convention and the 1990 World Economic Summit' Mr. Roddy has conducted members of the Houston Children's Chorus in numerous recordings for Silver Burdett Music Textbook Series, receiving a "platinum album award. Soloists from the Chorus have been featured with the Houston Grand Opera the Houston Symphony Pops, Theater Under the Stars, and numerous radio television commercials. In June of 1995, the Chorus performed with the nation Broadway touring production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Annual concerts of the Houston Children's Chorus are held at the Wortham Theatre Center, Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, and Stude Concert Hall of Rice University.
