Looking Ahead…

NO REHEARSAL on Tuesday,  March 30!!

Debussy rehearsals begin Sat, April 3rd

         (small women’s chorus)

Mozart Requiem rehearsals begin Tues., April 6th

(reduced chorus)

Watch your e-mail for a list of singers for both these concerts!

Years of Service Awards May 4 (plan to attend even if you aren’t singing Mozart!)

Re-auditions Fri & Sat May 7 & 8

Comp tickets for Kaddish will be distributed tomorrow night.

Men’s ties for Sunday matinees can be purchased tonight from Wardrobe Manager Patsy Wilson.  Ties cost $20 (cash, or checks made out to Houston Symphony Chorus).

HSC Spring Endowment Campaign Continues!! We had a strong start – let’s keep up the momentum!  No contribution is too small to help us get to our goal of expanding participation!!  (Contributions may be given to the chorus manager or mailed in directly to the Symphony: envelopes are available on the Chorus table).   Thanks to Dave Nussman for his work on this, and to all of you, for supporting this vision for the future of the Chorus.

Re-audition news Last year we switched to a two year audition schedule for most Chorus members.  If you didn’t audition last year, your number will be up this year!! All provisional members, Grand Chorus members, and one-year audition rota members will need to re-audition as well.  Also, just as we did last year, EVERYONE will be required to fill out an on-line commitment form to retain active status in the chorus.  Those who do not fill out the form by April 23rd will be required to re-audition this year.  With luck, the re-audition form should be available within the week: look for the link in an upcoming “HSC Chronicles”.   (We will have computers available at some rehearsals to let those of you without e-mail complete the form here.)  If you aren’t sure whether it’s your year to re-audition, you can check the lists posted in the hall tonight.  Those not singing the Mozart Requiem will be able to re-audition on a song of their choice (just bring music for the accompanist!)

As a reminder from the Chorus Handbook: “Guests are not permitted at conductors’ rehearsals (piano and orchestra).” Given our tight quarters, permission to bring guests to other rehearsals must be requested in advance.

If you want to hear Emanuel Ax this weekend,  plan to stay for the second part of the orchestra rehearsal on Saturday morning.
