OPENING NIGHT
CONCERT CALL CHANGE
& OTHER JONES HALL INFO

As you know, the floods made a huge mess of Jones Hall and the surrounding area. We have no access to any levels under the stage, including the rehearsal room and the musicians lounge. Because of this, we will need to move the Concert Call for Opening Night to 6:15 p.m. We will have to warm up on stage, before the orchestra takes it over, and before the hall doors open. We will rehearse from 6:15 - 6:45, have 30 minutes to go up to the chorus level (where we will have only 2 rooms, men and women, clearly marked), remain quietly backstage, or go outside. We will line up at 7:15, as the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

You will also notice a change to the start time for the Saturday Orchestra Rehearsal. Thank you for marking your calendars accordingly.

Speaking of outside... Apparently, Jones Hall is completely surrounded by scaffolding with tunnels around it. It is accessible, but doesn’t look like it!

Another important item is parking. The theater district parking (for Jones Hall, Bayou Place, and Wortham) many of you use is not open yet. Be thinking about alternates, and I will try to have a map of other parking options prior to the concert.

You should also know that we sing in the first half of the concert. At intermission, you may want to go to a restaurant and wait for your guests. You may also wait in the chorus level restroom. OR, we have been given permission to hang out SILENTLY in the lobby during the second half. There are speakers, and often a television monitor. We will have to be SILENT to take advantage of this option.

Look for more details as we get closer to the concert!
