Coming Soon: The HSC Photo Directory
Ian Fetterley has generously offered to help us put together a photo directory that will be available on the web page and in a printed version. We need everyone's help to make this happen! If you are NOT singing in the Pops or Messiah concerts, please get your picture taken tonight at the break. We'll be taking pictures of everyone else over the next 3 weeks. We need a couple volunteers to help Ian keep track of names as he is taking the pictures: see Ian or Susan tonight if you'd be willing to help with this.
Dresses for Bruckner
See Mary Lopushansky at the break if you need to borrow a dress for the Bruckner concert. Those who signed up for a dress last week PLEASE pick them up from Mary tonight. If you are borrowing a dress will need to pay $10 for cleaning costs when you return the dresses (after our final Bruckner concert).
Bruckner Tickets
Tonight is the last chance to sign up for complimentary tickets for Bruckner. Comp tickets are available for the Sunday afternoon and Monday evening performances only. Discount tickets are available for all three concerts. To purchase discount tickets (and to get your comp ticket alongside purchased tickets) phone the Houston Symphony box office (713-224-7575)and identify yourself as a member of the chorus. They will tell you ticket price and availability, and you can pay with a credit card. Tickets purchased this week will be available at the box office "will call" window. Do NOT sign up for a comp. ticket on my list if you want to get your comp. next to tickets you are purchasing.
Tickets for other concerts
I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from the box office as to how they are going to handle the Pops and Messiah ticket ordering.
Symphony Broadcast
Our performances from last March of the Kodaly Te Deum and the Brahms Triumphlied will be included in this week's Houston Symphony broadcast on KUHF (88.7 fm): Weds. Nov 13, 9-11 p.m.
Are you Lost in Cyberspace?? Get an "e-mail buddy"! Many important Chorus memos are distributed by e-mail. Most members have e-mail accounts, but if you don't, or if you're someone who only checks your e-mail once a month, find an "e-mail buddy" in
your section who will contact you when we send out announcements about things you need to know before the next rehearsal. Really nice buddies could even bring print-outs of e-mails on Tuesday night, particularly when section leaders send out markings and musical notes. Please consider helping out this way if someone asks you: plugging the holes in our e-mail communication system will help us all! And if you change your e-mail address, please be sure to send Susan Scarrow your new address immediately so you'll stay in the loop for Chorus communications.
CHRISTMAS OCTETS
Every year we have groups go out and sing at Christmas to make money for our tour fund. This is especially important this December, with a trip to France scheduled for next fall. There are two ways you can help. If you would like to volunteer to sing in an octet at some point during the holiday season, please contact Sally Hoffecker at siddingo @ wans.net . Also, if you know of a company or group that would be willing to pay to have an octet perform at a holiday party or in a lobby, etc., please let Sally know that as well. All money received from these performances will go into our general tour fund, to benefit all members of the chorus participating in the trip next October. (We would love to have you help, even if you will not be able to go to France!)
CALENDAR/HANDBOOK
In an effort to save money for the symphony, Cheryl emailed this year's calendar/handbook. For those of you who don't have email, or were unable to open the attachment, we do have some printed copies of the calendar/handbook.
Did you know that there is a chorus yahoo group?
This group gets/gives info on CDs, ticket offers,
and all kinds of things.
If you would like to be on the list,

CHORUS COUNCIL MEETING
