Sorry to send this to the whole group - - but I don't have a handy email list of the HSCers who are going on tour...
DISCLAIMER: although I am a lawyer licensed to practice in Texas, I am NOT providing legal advice to anyone reading this; I do not intend to establish any kind of attorney-client relationship with anyone; and I do not carry malpractice insurance coverage in connection with providing legal advice .I am simply sharing some information/asking some questions - - your mileage may vary.

I have been shopping around for travel insurance. I thought the information in the brochure that the guy from ACFEA (whose name I have forgotten - - sorry) gave us looked pretty reasonable, so I went online to look at the full terms and conditions of the travel insurance coverage from AIG/TravelGuard:
http://www.travelguard.com/TGContent/ACFEA/52251/CT004003P11201.pdf
The way I read the definitions of "effective date" and "termination date" there is NO coverage other than trip cancellation for anyone whose trip is LONGER than the scheduled tour dates. In other words - - if you leave BEFORE the scheduled/contracted tour date, or return AFTER the scheduled/contracted tour date, there is NO coverage under this policy (other than trip cancellation insurance, which begins the day after the premium is paid) for anything that occurs on those extra days.
IF i am correct in my interpretation (and I am more than willing to be corrected), this means that for those folks (like me) who are traveling independently, we may want/need to look at other policies if we want to be sure to have coverage for the entire duration of our trip.
REQUEST: can someone check with ACFEA to see whether my interpretation is correct and, if so, whether those of us traveling independently can purchase additional coverage ? I am willing to make this inquiry on behalf of HSC if that would be helpful, as long as someone will give me the contact info etc.
thanks much. Suzanne
PS: also, folks, be aware of the EXCLUSION for most pre-existing medical conditions (and the definitions of that term), since none of us purchased this policy within 14 days of our initial tour payment. Chorus Council etc: lesson learned for next tour - we should probably provide info on travel insurance before the first payment is made.
