I'm posing this question to the group, wondering if any of you have advice I can give to this acquaintance. He approached me at church yesterday asking if I had music contacts at Rice University (which I don't). This man's little brother is a junior in High school, a very good (so he says) violinist, performs in his city's Youth orchestra (can't remember the city) and a very good student -- he said he is in line to be a valedictorian. Of course, all this is subjective...Anyway, he says that he really wants to study music at Rice and he'll be here in Houston for a while this summer and would like to meet somebody in the music program there and hopefully put a face to his application. Do any of you have any advice that I could pass on to him about somebody this kid could contact to talk to about the program or something he could do to increase his chances of getting accepted at Rice?
Thanks!
