That is a wonderful work! I have sung selected pieces from it, and it is very moving. I'll be enjoying Amarillo, but would love to hear these two groups perform it. Pat B

Subject: [HSChorus] Wonderful concert this weekend!!
Dear friends: First of all -- to those of you who, like me, just got home from the amazing HSC European Tour - - thanks for providing me (and Richard) an unparalleled set of musical (and other :-) experiences - - this was really the trip of a lifetime for us. I never imagined myself singing in a church where Mozart may have played the organ, or in a cathedral like the Stephansdom. The "czechen fried steak" was icing on the cake -- and how great to have a chance really to get to know some of the folks who previously I've only said hello to at rehearsals!
Secondly - - I wanted to pass along some information about a great concert coming up this weekend in Jones Hall. The Gay Mens Chorus of Houston (great singers and phenomenal stage presence, if you havent seen them before) are doing a program called "There's No Place Like Home," featuring the songs of Judy Garland. The GMCH (along with their sister group, the Bayou City Women's Chorus) is also going to be performing "Sing For the Cure" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this coming October (some of you may remember my [ahem...unsuccessful] efforts several years ago to try to get the HSC to do this very important piece of music - - i am so glad that this will finally be done in Houston, only 7 years after its world premiere in Dallas ...sigh...).
Anyway,I'll send you lots of emails about SFTC (which I am happy to say I hope to be singing in, as well!) this fall. For now-- click your heels three times and come out this weekend to support the GMCH , which does so much to enhance the musical life of Houston.
Cheers. Suzanne
